When should home technology be planned in a new custom home?

Before insulation. The low-voltage plan should be marked up while the house is still on paper, and the pre-wire happens after framing and before insulation and drywall. Bringing Estate Controls in at design stage keeps the work off the critical path and avoids opening finished walls later.

What does Estate Controls install?

Dedicated home theaters and media rooms, lighting control and motorized shades, whole-home and outdoor audio, home control, and the networking and equipment racks behind it all. We design and install Control4 and Lutron systems.

Which areas around Austin do you serve?

Westlake, Tarrytown, Northwest Hills and Lakeway first, then Bee Cave and Dripping Springs. We also take projects in West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Driftwood, Wimberley and Kyle.

Do you work with builders, architects and interior designers?

Yes. Send the plan set and we return a marked-up low-voltage plan, a pre-wire schedule that fits the framing and insulation windows, and one point of contact through trim-out and commissioning.

How much does a home theater or automation system cost?

Projects start at $2,500. Past that, every system is designed for the house in front of us, so the design consultation is where scope and budget are set together, before anything is ordered. We don’t take TV-only jobs.

Do you install security cameras or alarm systems?

No. Estate Controls does not design or install security, alarm or camera systems. We focus on theaters, lighting, shades, audio, control and the network.

How many projects do you take at once?

One or two homes at a time. That keeps the work hands-on: the people who design the system are the ones on site for the pre-wire, the trim-out and the walkthrough.

Let’s look at the house.

Plans, a site walk or a finished home: start with a design consultation. Projects start at $2,500.
